              This session provides a strong foundation for new users of Vertex automated tax solutions. This session discusses the various types of nexus, and what activities conducted in state and local jurisdictions could create nexus for you. Once nexus is determined, learn the basics of sales and use tax; what situs is, exceptions to tax, tax exceptions, and what tax types are used by Vertex automated tax solutions. Expanding on the basics discussed in this workshop, we will take a deeper dive into state specific rules dealing with situs determination for intrastate transactions, full and partial overrides, basis rules, and tiered rates.
